I bought a new PC680 a couple of months ago - it has never been used. It turns out I don't need the battery now but will in the future. How long can I store it on the shelf without degrading it's performance? Does it need to be put on a charger periodically?

most SLA mfr's suggest at least 6 months. They have a very low self discharge rate, compared to flooded lead acid batteries.

According to the manual, 2 years or until the open circuit voltage drops below 12 volts. After that it'll need a charge.

I have my original 680 purchased 2006. Three years in the plane and since used in numerous farm equipment. Still works and gets charged occasionally.
