Hi,

Just getting ready to have my interior sprayed and wondering what prep is required for the plastic air intakes on my "14". Do I just scuff them and prime? I've used a 2 part epoxy (Akzo-Nobel) on the rest of the interior. The painter is planning on using SW Jet Flex.

Thanks Jim

All I can give you is what I did and that is prime them with epoxy primer then top coat. My interior is a 2K urethane auto paint and the vents came out fine. I would not expect that you need any flex agent for the plastic parts as they are fixed into position and will never move like a plastic bumper on a car.

I have simply deglossed with a scotchbrite pad while scuffing the interior for painting on quite a few different airplanes and have never had any problem with adhesion with the paints that were applied.
