I'm about to install the OAT probe for my GRT EIS and would like to hear from others who've done likewise. Where and how?? Thanks.

Tried on the belly - it sucked (7 deg off).
Asked friends, one had it in the wing root he said 4 deg off.
Moved it out to the wing (near first access plate) - perfect

Steve,

On my -8, I put it in the underwing NACA scoop, and it works great - but I don't know if you've got that scoop on a -4. I'd suspect, however, that a wing access plate a couple ribs out would be the same.

(BTW, the GRT probe fits perfectly in one of those hard plastic grommets - it practically mounts itself!)

In the NACA scoop

I have a fairly small probe and it fits in the scoop very nicely. Calibration? well - the temperature is what it is and what I'm seeing is close enough for my purposes. I keep remembering that big 3 inch or so drag stick extending out of the top of the windshield on my trusty old Archer II.
