What about Tuesday night at the homebuilt camping pavilion? Something informal but 15-centric?
 
Okay... How does 6-8 on Tuesday strike people? BYO food and drinks and commandeer a corner of the Pavilion?
 
Just so you know, Van’s banquet is usually Tuesday night if you plan on attending that (but I haven’t seen an official announcement avbout it this year yet…)

Beer exchange at the pavilion Sunday evening, RV Social Monday evening, Vans dinner Tuesday evening. Wednesday might be your best bet.

Since the fuselage and finishing kits aren't even available to order yet and the current lead time for an IO390 is 18 months, I think this is more than a little optimistic...unless you meant 2037 :)

I don't know... Our 390 was ordered concurrently with the wing kit and is scheduled to ship at the end of this October. Next year might be something of a stretch to fly it in, but doesn't mean we're not going to try.

Best of luck to you, but even if you get that stuff in October, What's the ETA on the fuselage and finishing kit? I just looked and Vans doesn't even have pricing on those kits yet, let alone an estimated lead time.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, it just doesn't seem like a realistic timeline to me.

I dunno man, I guess I'll just say good luck and godspeed.
 
As a non-builder I have a vested interest in seeing you all succeed in building a faster cruising, higher payload, better performing backcountry aircraft.

The sooner the RV-15 flys and at least a few folks become disenchanted with backcountry flying the sooner some nice specimens will enter the used market for folks like myself.

In the interim, I'm definitely down with drinking beer at Oshkosh to do some HBC pavilion chair flying on the subject(y)

Or the Young Eagles banquet on Tuesday and the Steinair dinner on Wed or Thurs (not yet announced). The list grows longer every day.

Roger, I think there will be a small few for sale early including my build (sn150021). This will my 5th and last build from over the last 53 years. Interestingly, I started with a BD4 configured like the ‘15. I finished 6 years later and flew it some 22 years. The rest of my builds are summarized in my signature below:

We are brothers....lets race when your done. Right before Oshkosh I'll cruise at 140 mph to a Supercub gathering event at New Holstein, WI with my Bearhawk Patrol. The Patrol has a has a 1000 pound useful load and I expect we'll fly out to and land at a 1000' hayfield/farm for ice cream on Saturday night. I've been pleased with cruise efficiency. My IO-360 with trailblazer prop burns 7.1 gph on that 140 mph trip thru the U.P. of Michigan. BTW, I'm doing 500' stop and goes off grass in calm wind if I can touch down without a bounce. . While you wait for the -15, I'll try squeeking out some more performance. Save me a beer at the pavilion.

Don't disagree, the BH Patrol is an option I've definitely considered. Husky performance with significantly lower cost of entry and no North 40 camping. Unfortunately not much inventory for sale. Looking forward to sharing a beer at HBC and hearing what the secret is to those elusive no-bounce touchdowns,
