I need some Oops help.

I read about Oops rivets. I assume we are talking about 1097 rivets. Is a number 4 1097 rivet a rivet with a .125 dia. shaft and a number 3 head? Additionally is there a Oops universal rivet? I have one hole that receives a universal rivet that I have enlarged from number 4 to 5. I thought I was going to use a universal rivet with a number 5 shaft and a number 4 head, thereby hiding my mistake. Does this rivet exist or do I need to buck a number 5 470?

Robert,
"Oops" rivets are NAS 1097. They have a shank one size larger than "normal" with a normal size head.

Avery sells a kit with an assortment or you can buy them in bulk from Vans or Aircraft Spruce.

Stop by the house and I'll fix you up with an assortment to get you started.

Standard rivets also come in a variety of shank diameters...you can probably just go up one diameter. Check the General Aviation Hardware catalog for size references.

Good luck,
Mike

Oversize rivets

Hi,

I think you might want to try NAS1242AD4 rivets as "Ooops" for AN470 rivets, they are 1/64 oversize shank with same head diameter if I'm not mistaking.
GAHCo carries them, see his catalog here
Cheers
