M Mich48041 Well Known Member Friend Mar 6, 2016 #2 Sounds like a poor ground connection someplace, maybe between the engine and instrument panel. The engine mount should not be part of the ground circuit. It is OK to ground the engine mount, but it should not be used to carry starter current.
