Trying to get suggestions on how to troubleshoot a recent development. Oil temps on last flight would get to 210 which is around normal for me in summer, then strangely move up and down between about 185 and 210 back and forth. Not slowly, but not jumpy either. Never has done this before. I have O360 carbureted, flying 3 years with 210 hours.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Check the electrical connection on the sender (if you have an electrical gauge). Take it off, clean it, and then try it again. If it still fluctuates, check the vernatherm. It could be sticking intermittently.

Is it a "single wire" Oil T sender? Any sort of Earth issue can upset these... 2 ways to check / solve:
1. Consider turning off Alternator temporarily, this removes much of the current through the earth strap, and if the Oil T settles down, indicates the problem.
2. Consider swapping a single wire sensor for a 2 wire...

We solved our problem in this way...
