I just looked at my overhauled O-320 engine, and on the oil pressure gauge fitting (where the VA-128 is supposed to go), they have already included a fitting. THe fitting is similar to the VA-128, but is brass-coloured, and it looks like the restrictor is in the other end. Should I take this fitting out and replace it with Van's VA-128?

That fitting will work just fine. As long as it has a restrictor, it doesn't matter which end it is in.

I've been told that the restrictor is there to slow down the loss of engine oil if the tubing to the oil pres gage fails. It might also be there to smooth the oil pump pulsations... In either case I would use it rather than a standard fitting....
