I have been going over the project I bought in July.
Yesterday I noticed the coating scraped off the engine mount and
then how close the outlet on the oil cooler is to the mount.
I don't know if it hit during the move or during installation, which I
did not do. Surely it can not stay that close to the mount.
I don't have the oil cooler installation instruction but the baffles are
per plan.
Suggestions or please tell me what I am missing.

Hi Bert

I mentioned to Jim about putting a piece of hose sleeve around mount, as I did on my RV7, never moved after 230 hrs; just cut a piece about 3-4 in long and slit lengthways to fit over the tube. BTW it passed muster with the FAA on A/W inspection.

Thanks

Thanks Jerry, it's going to have to be thin, only about 1/8" space.
Talked to Jim this morning.

I would not just put a piece of tubing over the fitting. In my opinion ($.02) your fitting it too close to the mount. Normal engine movement could break the fitting or the cooler causing a massive oil leak. I'd figure a way to gain more clearance.

^^ This is what needs to happen; it reaaaallly shouldn't be this close.
