Earlier on in the build I managed to drill a 1/4" hole a bit oblong in the VS-01401 Doubler. Behind this part is the VS-702 Front VS Spar. The 1/4" hole in the spar is fine. When the parts are together (2nd picture) you can hardly notice.

Anyway, this bugs me since it is a major VS attach point. I figure I could just drill up to 5/16" and up the specified AN4 bolt to an AN5 and, well, then it wouldn't bug me anymore:).

These parts are the same, I'm sure, on other models... What do you folks think?

I've contacted Vans about this but I'm not too sure my emails are getting thru to them as I have yet to hear back. Possibly my pictures are too big to email, so I'll give them a shout next week. In the meantime...

Same thing

I did the same thing, I then drilled for a bolt instead of rivet and pressed on. Showed my DAR when getting airworthiness inspection and he said it was fine.
