I apologize for flogging this much-discussed topic......
just hoping to have my re/re go smoothly.
Anyone in BC done this mod? I'd love to hear or see the real thing, even photos would be nice.
Perhaps it will be more obvious when holding the thing in my hands, but there seems to be a bit of shimming, fooling with the fork throat width etc.

appreciate any advice!
 
No fooling at all

Its a well made unit..imagine the existing mushrooms welded to a spacer tube that goes thru the axle.

Now one of the "mushrooms" is threaded on..Now you can adjust the bearing preload either on the bench or in the wheel fork without the wheelpant in the way.

When you have done that you can tighten the thru bolt as tight as you like and it won't alter the bearing preload.

No shimming required (unless its an RV10). Mine was a little tght in the fork..which easily be remedied by grinding a little off the end of the axle.

For $43 it was ano brainer and I can set the preload perfectly.
