I'm curious what the typical practice is for the annual concerning the nose gear fork. Do you generally remove the fork from the gear and regrease or just check that it moves freely? When you add grease via the fitting, how much do you add? Do you pump until it's full? I haven't seen any guidance on this. I appreciate any information.

thanks for the help:)

Pump in new grease until some of the older stuff pushes out (either the top or bottom).

Check the torque of the nose gear asm. to verify the cone washers are still doing there job.

Look for cracks in the fork asm.

Check all bolts and the stops for cracks and wear.

Tim,
Check the torque on the gear leg bolt at the engine mount.
They tend to loosen up with time.

Gear leg

there is a problem with the gear leg and the engine mount, mine included. the gear leg lateral torque, over time can elongate the hole in the motor mount, allowing the gear leg to twist. There have been several fixes locally, but I don't think Vans has published a fix yet. For someone building, I would suggest replacing the stock AN bolt with a close tolerance bolt. You can check the gear by taking the weight off, putting a finger on the bolt and wiggling the gear.
