It gives me tremendous pleasure and great satisfaction to report that my son, Chase Ockuly (18 years old) successfully completed his checkride, and was issued his Private Pilot (airplane/single-engine/land) license on this 18th day of August, 2010 at Medina, Ohio

Of particular note, all of his flight training and the actual checkride itself, was accomplished in a Vans RV-7A, N914E.

Special thanks and much gratitude to his flight instructor, Gary Patzke

Signed, a proud Dad.

Hey that's great. Congratulations to both of you.

Coincidentally, my checkride was the 18th (a couple years ago).

Congratulations to both of you, Bernie. It is such a great feeling to be able to "pass the torch along" in the family when it comes to aviation. What an accomplishment for your son!

cool

Congratulations, that is awesome. I am 40+ and just getting ready to start instruction so am jealous. I am also very hopefull because I will be doing my training in a 6A and there is a lot of doubt that I would be able to take my checkride in it, so thank you for showing that it is possible. Best wishes for many happy and safe years of flying.

Congrats Pop!

If every Dad took such an interest in their kids and expressed such approval, this planet would be a much better place.

This is a "defining moment" for your son so don't be surprised if his skills accelerate and rapidly surpass your own. Last week, I took a teenager flying in my 9. It was his first flight but within 5 minutes his ability to fly straight and level was exceptional.

Enjoy every moment.

Awesome, both of you! My son is on the home stretch too in getting his checkride and has about 9 hours of flying remaining. FAA written is done but the required summer reading and summer chemistry assignment and high school cross country are starting to compete for time. Hope he can find the motivation to knock it out! It's great to see some young blood this summer flying at the airports and on Van's list!

WOW!

Congrats!!!!!!! What a great country!!!!! To have the freedom to build your own airplane and have your son earn his pilot's license in it. CONGRATS!!!!!

Best
