Gosh Doug, in that photo that shows your instrument panel, you are REALLY giving it some right rudder (w/ both feet on one pedal!!!!) :D

Doug,

After listening to your audio download about your trip to Lubbock and the Silent Wings museum I would like to add this note.

The reason the museum is here in Lubbock is because Lubbock International airport was originally an Army Air Force training base for World War II Glider pilots.

I grew up in Whiteface, TX (60 miles west of LBB) Mom tells the story about all of the glider pilots that were released and failed to make it back to Lubbock. She would feed them and than call the base to have them picked up. She still thinks a lot of them just landed for a good meal.

Regards,
Mike Stephenson
