FYI....

Just read an article in this months AOPA mag. They featured a new glass cockpit display system that looks like it may give the Garmin 1000 a run for its money.

L3 Communications has introduced the SmartDeck and it appears to have everything including the kitchen sink. It has fully integraded autopilot, moving map, weather, terrain, traffic, an enhanced vision system and a center control console. The article didn't say how much it was to go for but I'm sure it will be up there with the G1000.

Just as interesting is the fact that there was just a thread about Trutraks new display being tilted forward. Some liked it some didn't. Well L3 must have liked the idea because they incorporated a tilted HSI in their primary display.

Those of you with deeeeep pockets need to get one quick before they are gone!!

At first glance (same words they used), I didn't like the tilted display either. But once you see the purpose, which is future synthetic 3D topography in the background, then it looks like an ideal setup.
