Where did the new script font come from?

Anyone else find it much harder to read?

Maybe I find it harder to read because I'm using a 1920x1200 monitor.

I assume you are referring to the fonts and arrangement on the home page, top right?

They changed for me as well when the page layout was altered a few weeks ago. They aren't bad on my work computer but my laptop doesn't display them very well. These are the same computers I have been using for years, so something has changed. Maybe a java update or something is causing the difference? Or maybe it's my 'upgrade' to ie7 on the laptop. The work computer is still on ie6.
Nothing seems to have changed elsewhere, though.

It's a feature

Mike,

It's a feature of the Ie7 upgrade... same thing happened to me.
I got an option on the upgrade install of "enhanced readability" or some equivalent, and I said yes.

I believe this is the feature in question...

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/design/ClearType.html

You sould be able to "fix" it here...

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearType/tuner/Step1.aspx

I actually like the "new look"... :)

Gil and others,

It's not IE. I'm using a Mac with Safari 2.04 as the web browser. This site seems to be the only one dispaying the new font. Believe me, I've checked every setting that could be responsible with no luck -- I'm pretty savvy on the Mac operating system, but this one has me baffled.

BTW the fonts affected are all the fonts on the site except for the adds.

I'm actually getting used to the new look, but I'd love to know why it changed.

Thanks,

Honest guys, I didn't touch it.

It's displaying the same font it has always displayed on all my computers and laptops.

ClearType is a Windows feature and has been around for years. It works with any application that uses standard GDI calls for font rendering (i.e. works with Firefox and most other apps).

Firefox is a better browser but it's not always properly supported by websites. I use FF for 99% of my browsing but keep IE handy for sites that don't want to work correctly with it.

Problem Solved

Doug and others.

It was my computer, but not any of the user-settable options.

I went through all of my "cookies" one by one, and removed all of the ones I wasn't familiar with and dumped the cache. I then shut down my system and started it up again. Upon restarting I found two folders in the trash of weird "Temp" files. I emptied the trash and started the browser.

Viola, the fonts on the site are back to normal!

Sorry for crying wolf,
