Hi folks,

a friend og mine just sent me a copy of a FAA ruling (final rule). Quote: 'This final rule amends the FAA?s regulations concerning aircraft registration. Over a 3-year period, this rule will terminate the registration of all aircraft registered before October 1, 2010, and will require the re-registration of each aircraft to retain U.S. civil aircraft status.'

Is this some kind of joke?

Cheers

I heard about this too but have not read anything. I am sure it is just a revenue stream to get registration fees every few years. Not sure if the extra dollars is the only down side. I already get a survey every year to update my hours and equipement on the plane. This seems like it just allows them to charge you to give them the info.
Maybe they want to reduce the actual number of registrations. There are a lot of old N-numbers on the books. Airplanes that have not flown in a years or have never flown. People took out n-numbers because it only cost $15.
