I second the Sacramento Skyranch book - I've read most of it and found it quite informative for this Lycoming novice.

Also...

I just found this link yesterday on the new and improved Lycoming web site - it is a reprint of all sorts of articles from Lyc, in book form - download all the PDF's, and you'll have a lot of free and interesting reading to do while waiting for your copy of the Sac Sky Ranch manual to arrive.... ;)

Key Reprints is excellent as is the Skyranch book which I just received yesterday. Those, along with my powerplant textbooks from A&P school round out my engine reference collection.
