Does anybody know the name of the tool is that is used to measure the profile of a curved surface? The tool has a row of pins in it that move up and down. You push the pins against the curved surface, and when you remove the tool, the pins duplicate the curve. I'd like to buy one of these gizmos, but I don't know what it's called.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Eastwood (http://www.eastwoodco.com) has them - they are called profile gauges. The REALLY cool ones are the ones that transfer profiles of round tubing notches. :D

Ho De carries them. Look on the "General" brand tool rack with the protractors, spring punches, etc.

Don't buy a cheap one

Buy a good one. The cheap ones fall apart. Been there, done that.
