Can anyone tell me if the ATS mushroom head with the 20 degree swivel is worth buying to eliminate potential smiles in the aluminum when riviting?

Yup...money well spent.
My skin is polished and the swivel set did a good job of protecting the skin along the way as I learned the art of riveting.

I had great results

with a very large mushroom set like this:

Borrowed it from a friend. The large 2" head made it very easy to tell when you are flush on the skin or whatever. That being said, I did use the swivel head flush set, especially when I needed help from my less experienced helpers, or had an awkward rivet to get to.

You can never have too many tools...

I think you would prefer to have both

As previous poster said, you can't have too many tools.

The swivel one has its uses as does a solid one.
