So what's the brain trust have to say about my motor mounts? When I had my prop balanced the tech pointed out that the mounts weren't solidly against the engine ears and they should be. I didn't hang the engine and I don't know if there is a sleeve or something inside the mounts that is keeping them from being snug. They bolts are tight.

Yes there is a sleeve (tube) inside the mount rubber that controls the compression of the rubber when the bolt is tightened.

I would say that whoever made the mount just did not get the angle quite right to get even and symmetrical compression of the rubber. I would not worry about it at all, unless someone else here with more experience has a different view.
