Unfortunately I did not read the posts by JerryG150 and mrt890 about 23-06 step 5 until it was too late. I questioned why the plans said to put nutplates on the outside of the fuselage. But I rationalized that the wing covers them and that, for E-LSA, it is required to follow the plans exactly and that Van's must know something that I don't. After reading the above mentioned posts, I called Van's and confirmed that the nutplates go on the inside. Van's knew about the problem. It was not very nice of them not to notify builders of the mistake. Now that the skins have been riveted in place, it will take me lots of time to remove the nutplates and rivet them on the inside. Those hollow rivets spin while being drilled. I am posting this to prevent others from making the same mistake.
