As I'm fitting a new windscreen to an existing canopy, I have the opportunity to set any gap that I want. I know that I never want them to touch, and I also know that the plexi changes size quite a bit with temperature. I do want as small a gap as possible without it ever touching, so what is the conventional wisdom for a minimum initial gap?

As I'm setting this up, the shop temperature is in the 60's, but the OAT the airplane will see at my home here ranges from the teens to one hundred and teens.

Thanks.

I just Sika'd my windscreen and have about a 1/8-3/15 gap. I'm planning to try this material rather than the plans fiberglass build up. Hoping the rubber seal arrives tomorrow and can see how it all seals and looks.

Bud,

That's where I was planning on setting mine as well (in the absence of other guidance).

This rubber seal you're using; Is it going outside or inside the canopy? If ourside, I'd be concerned about it acting like a spoiler and buzzing.
