I try to fly in the U. S. Air Race, Inc National Air Race when I can. An extra incentive just came via e-mail for this year's race:

Bob,
Have not heard from you in ages.....hope you are somewhere having fun and all is well.
Just got our second entry for the 2006 races...would you believe one of the Sport Class racers...Mike Jones/Glasair III...he is one of the top pilots and involved in all the racing. He really was HOT to race a long distance and try the handicap format. We are really pleased to have him.
Just keeping you updated as I have been lax with the web site....
Hope to see you in July.

I don't know what there is about it but when a top notch Reno Sport Class racer enters a race that I can compete in with an equalizing handicap it gets my juices flowing. Yeah, believe me I know with any cross wind a slower airplane has to fly farther to get from point A to Point B and the handicap cannot compensate for that but still with a lucky tailwind - who knows what can happen?
