Our local instructor unfortunately lost his life in an ultra lite accident recently at a very young age. He was loved by everyone around our area and so our local eaa chapter is wanting to put up some kind of memorial, i.e. plaque, small airplane statue or something but we are really struggling with idea's. I am sure some of you out there have been there done this and have some great idea's...Thank you in advance

scholarship

The chapter could fund an annual scholarship for some ambitious young person that may be interested in aviation. The scholarship could be named in honor of the lost pilot and funds accumulated over the year could pay for whatever the chapter chooses for this lucky young person (education, trip to Osh, etc.). Just thinking outloud.

Benches

Take up a collection and purchase a picnic table and / or benches. Affix a "in memory of" sign from a trophy shop. Place these at a prime spot on the airport where visitors or hangar bums can watch the airplanes come and go.

Our chapter placed benches around the base of our flag pole, for example.

great idea

We had planned on doing the scholarship thing but the picnic table idea would really go along with that...that is just the kind of idea we were looking for....thanks

Pretty cheap to add a pergola or lattice or something to grow fines on for some shade. Around here, a picnic table without some good shade wouldn't get used much....
