All,

After searching the forums, I can't seem to find the correct process for measuring elevator deflection. Can anybody point me to the correct post or give me the low down on how to correctly measure deflection with a digital level?

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Well, a digital level makes it pretty easy. Set the elevators so the counterbalances are flush with the HS, then put the level on the elevator parallel to the centerline of the fuselage (along a row of stiffener rivets should do). Set the level to 0 and you can then read the deflection directly off the level. Note that to avoid confusing the level you should have the HS level laterally. Deflection values are given in the construction manual. You want to exceed those values in the surfaces before the stops are installed.

Hopefully this covered what you wanted to know...
