Hello, has anyone replaced the o-ring in the brake assembly? Mine has developed a drip and need to disassemble, how do you get the puck out of the assembly?
The classic way to remove the piston is to carefully blow air (or fluid) into the brake line fitting on the caliper assembly. Be careful that you don't over-pressurize the piston thus turning it into a projectile!
An easy way to remove the puck is to pressurize the fluid side. I remove the caliper, place the piston face-down on a firm surface and then use low pressure air into the fluid fitting. Generally a quick puff of 10-15# air does the job.
You could have Flex Honed the cylinders of the calipers, while the calipers were open, to assure a good, smooth unbuggered sealing surface for the new seals. Always a good idea if an O ring has already been wrecked by a bore with grit in a caliper.
