Hi all,

question: Does anyone know the minimum insertion for a male rod end bearing. (example the bearings on the rudders and elevators)... I've heard 1 thread other side of nutplate, I've heard 1/3 the total threads etc..

Not sure if its written anywhere but I would go with the common sense approach that the threads need to be fully engaged and if you have at least one thread past the nutplate it would be fully engaged.

Rod End Bearing insertion

Mike,
I think if you study the plans, you will find a dimension for the distance from the center of the hole in the bearing to the face of the spar. I don't recall what it is offhand, there are a couple of dimensions depending on which rod end bearing location you are looking at.
