The carb studs on my Lycoming O360 were barely showing threads past the nut. I am adding a 1/16 phenolic spacer and another gasket soi now they are definitely short. They measure 1 7/8 which I believe is the correct length for the engine. They have a 15/16 long threaded end and a 5/8 long threaded end. The longer 15/16 end was threaded into the sump with a thread or two showing. Is this the correct direction. If I screwed the 5/8 long threaded end in the sump, I think I would have enough length. Is 5/8 enough into the sump? I know with the FAB it is a relatively high stress area. I have had no luck finding a 2" stud with workable thread/ flat lengths.
