Lowest price VS best coverage

Once you have selected your broker you need to select the insurance company to write your policy. There are many things to consider when you are picking an insurance company. Is lowest price always the best option when shopping for insurance?

No.

Be wary that the carrier with the lowest price may not have the best policy coverage.

There are several questions to ask during the selection phase. Is the company well established? Does the policy have the extra coverages at no charge like hand held avionics, passenger baggage, precautionary landing coverage or coverage in Mexico etc? Is the company financially stable? Do they have a good track record with paying claims?

The most important thing to keep in mind is talk to your broker about the carriers and why one quote may be so much less than another. A broker?s job is to get you the best possible coverage at the most competitive pricing.

They should be able and willing to show you all the options available and explain the difference between those options, so you the consumer can make an educated purchase.
