Condtion inspection time: Have experienced the click--click--grunt--whir & start as others have, am suspecting worn contactor(s), and will pre-emptively replace both master & starter contactor. ---both continuous duty, three (3) pole.
Assuming that master contactor is engaged by master sw that completes circuit to gnd; and that starter contactor requires 12v to terminal to engage, from Cole Hersee link, which part # to use for:
master battery contactor = part #; after some homework part #24115
starter contactor = part #; after some homework part #24106
And, how, where to connect what diodes to each? 3A barrel diodes, per Bob Nuckolls book: page 11-20, figure 11-20; and page 11-21, figure 11-21
Please no suggestions of the four pole contactors; the ones that i am replacing are both 3 pole continuous duty, and have functioned well since 1996 - no reason to change.
