Does anyone know if Mark Landoll still makes these things? Or even the 12 pound weight he used to sell? I looked back over old messages, and called the numbers provided, but there was no answer three days now. New number maybe? Retired? Locked out of the house?
I've removed so much dead weight from the engine compartment of my (purchased) RV-4, that I'm starting to feel the need to put some back. :-/
Any thoughts from folks that have been where I am?

Consider a heavy crush plate from Sabre Mfg.

Another option is a heavy (thick) crush plate. I believe Saber Manufacturing makes thick crush plates that are much less expensive than the Landoll balancer, and puts the weight farther forward.
