This question is for anyone who knows anything about mounting a Duckworks style landing light in the wings.

Is there a good reason to NOT mount the landing light bracket in FRONT of the forward-most rib hole? The bracket I have will easily mount in front of the forward rib hole with about 1/2-inch above and below to allow any up/down adjustment of the light.

I'm thinking that the only reason to mount it further back is so the plastic lense will have more room to be wedged in the hole. I'd hate to mount it further forward and have to re-drill the bracket holes because the lense can't get put in.

Does mounting the light further back in the hole limit the light pattern?

My guess is that you would have a tough time getting the lens in there if the bracket is not far enough back.

As it is, there is very little leeway.

I can't speak to the light pattern, etc - wings are still in the cradle!

In my nine I tried that but found that it did not provide enuogh room for adjustment. Although that could change after you're flying and you can see exactly where the light is aiming.
