I'm sure this has been covered already but I just couldn't find anything on it.

What's the best procedure for aligning the landing and taxi lights on a tricycle RV? Is the landing light aimed more straight out while the taxi light is aimed more downward?

I think I'll have time to finally check this one off my list of squawks this afternoon...unless I decide to just go flying instead.

Thanks.

I am interested too

Yes, I have not seen anything on this so maybe several members are interested.

In the dark - of course

Find a flat surface with a wall. An apron in front of a hangar is perfect.

Move the aircraft up to the wall, pointing directly at it.

Turn on landing lights and mark centres of light beams on the wall with masking tape.

Pull plane directly backward 30-40', still pointing at wall.

Adjust centre of lights to point at tape marks you put on the wall previously, you could also aim them a little low depending on your normal approach attitude...

With a taildragger you might aim the taxi lights quite a bit lower than the landing lights. With a nose wheel about the same should work.

Fly it and re adjust if necessary...

Howzat?
