Knife edge made with #30 ****ersink on 0.040 aluminum plate used for lip to mount the cowling. The lip is to be used to mount a MilSpec cam loc receptacle with an 1/8 inch AN426AD4-4 rivet.
What is the fix for this ? Forget it and rivet the camloc and use its stainless steel mount plate as back-up plate ? Or should I use 0.025 aluminum sheet to make a large back-up plate for the mounting lip and rivet this plate to the existing mounting lip ? Any suggestions ?

RE: Knifed Myself

Even though the counter sink is knife edged you can probably use it as is. The CRES steel camloc fastener will be reinforcing the aluminum sheet material. Be advised that 0.04 is to thin to countersink for 1/8 in rivets. If countersink is your only option, then you might want to consider using 1/8 inch reduced head oops rivets (NAS1097AD4-x) or since 0.04 thickness sheet can be dimpled why not just dimple the cowling flange and the camloc receptacle for the 1/8 inch attaching rivet?
