re: kick plates
In my 6A after I installed my carpet, I was looking at various kick plates that were available for purchase. Most you had to rivet on or install with velcro. It was suggested to me to cut/use an old piece of plastic carpet protector. Those things you place under a desk so your chair rolls smoothly over the carpet. Have all those little gripping nibs so it does not move. I am at least trying this for the time being. I simply cut off the end piece that went under the desk area. So far seems to be working.
