Actually, there is a useful lesson here...

This pond is Hodges Airpark, GA39, where we all meet for monthly breakfasts. Grass field, pretty low key.

In the first picture, those two dots on the runway are kayakers. There is a drainage canal that, in better times, goes under the runway in a culvert. After Tropical Storm Debby, it got confused about the local meaning of "drainage." It's at the bottom of the picture.

Just for fun, I called Flight Service with a NOTAM of kayaks on the runway. But, since GA39 is a private field, FSS wouldn't do a NOTAM -- but they did find the report amusing. Lesson learned is that if your long trip includes a private field, best to call ahead for info.

They may not issue a NOTAM but perhaps they would be okay with designating it a Seaplane Base temporarily.

A friend from work has a hangar there; he says it's a good thing he doesn't keep anything important on his hangar floor...
