Friends,

It is with great sorrow that I inform you of the passing of JB, a remarkable figure in experimental aviation. Beyond his professional excellence, he was an incredible person whose kindness and passion touched many. He will be deeply missed.
I had the occasion to interact with JB over the course of a couple of engines. He was never too busy to answer questions and a gentleman enough not to tell e that some of the questions were dumb.

So sad to hear this. I knew JB back in his Eci days when we both lived in San Antonio. He was why I went with an Eci engine in my first build. Stayed in touch with him when he moved to Alabama with Continental and had them build the Titan 340 engine on my bush plane build. Incredibly knowledgeable, always helpful, honest man—he will be missed!

JB was there for me when I bought my ECI kit engine back in '07.

Back when Paul had me doing the engine guide for Kitplanes, I had to call every vendor. Some of those calls were real eye-rollers, but never when I called JB. He was professional, politic, and respectful of his employer's needs, but always absolutely reliable, on or off the record. If he said it, I was good with it.
