Well, Numerous times I got the ‘needs refresh’ warning. Now, using an iPad to internet to XM always got me the re-boot. Except when I was at an uncivilized airport with neither cell nor wifi service-and I really wanted the wx radar. Screw this, I said. I dropped them, saved $400/yr, went to adsb and have never looked back. It’s bad when non-payers can hack the signal for free; but it’s really bad when paying customers are turned off, because the security system has faults. XM had better figure out how to fix this or they’ll have no customers.
