HI Folks,

I'm trying to install an EZ-Heat engine preheater on my Dad's RV8 with an IO-390. I've had good luck with EZ-Heats in the past on other airplanes, and they work well for the flying I do.

EZ-Heat recommended their 442 model, which I think is used on Mooneys due to the unique sump configuration. When I try to follow their installation recommendations the heater wraps nicely around the forward part of the sump, but on the back apparently the IO-390 has a thicker boss cast in and the heater won't lay flat on the backside of the sump. I'm concerned that if I try to mold it around this boss it will ruin the heater as they are pretty sensitive to being bent the wrong way.

Has anyone run into this? Ideas?
