Hi Group,

Back then it seemed a good idea to mount a gascolator instead of the Airflow Performance fuel filter (IO-360), because of ease of access to clean the gascolator as opposed to unscrewing the Airflow filter. I recently decided to include an inverted fuel setup in one of the fuel tanks of the RV8 and now I wonder if the gascolator is a risk for (sustained) inverted flight.

I am not sure if the fuel flow will remain when flying up side down? (assuming the gascolator is free of water).

If there is any water in the gascolator it will flow into the fuel pump when inverted.

Advise wanted please,
Duncan

Yeah - not an issue. Drain the gascolator before flying inverted. Many certified aerobatic aeroplanes have gascolators. It you fit an Andair gascolator it will resist passing water through the filter.
