I am now installing Johanson tanks on RV6 wingtips.

These have no baffles, I am pondering the CofG effect of say half-full fuel moving fore and aft according to the pitch angle.

This could be equivalent to 50 lbs or more moving along the aircraft axis, with consequent pitch control effect. So the loading CofG (absent tip fuel) needs to consider this.

I wonder whether anyone has done the tip fuel CofG versus pitch angle calculations? The tank shape is rather complex so a spreadsheet may be laborious .

Bluebeard,

could you please post som pictures, how the tanks are attached to the wing? How are these tanks vented and connected to the fuel system?

Thank You!

Certainly I can send you details, this work is at an early stage and I am working out the various connections.

I am connecting these tanks independently to a five-way fuel selector in the cockpit. Among other things that allows each tank to be vented separately.

Pm me and I will email photos in due course.

Is there anything special about the wingtip fuel tanks?

What would it take to convert the standard tips into fuel tanks?
