Today was an inspirational day.

It started out early with a 60-mile drive to the Cactus Fly-in in Casa Grande Arizona. The Cactus Fly-in is an antique aircraft fly-in and there were some beautiful aircraft on display, not to mention a dozen or so RV?s. It amazes me how an aircraft built today (RV?s, Cessna?s etc) are built no differently then some of the aircraft from the 1930?s on up. The main difference is engine and avionics. As we were leaving a flight of Stearmans flew down the main road and seemed to escort us home. :)

When I returned home to Tucson I remembered it was Heritage Flight weekend at Davis Monthan AFB. The reason I remembered was by the sight of 3 P-51?s and F-15 flying formation around town. Later in the day a mix of aircraft in formation ranged from F-15?s, F-16?s, F-22?s, A-10?s, F-86, and P-51?s. Unfortunately the base in not open to the public for these Heritage events. :)

Seeing all these aircraft inspired me to put in the extra effort today on my RV-7A project. There is nothing like the sound of P-51?s in the air for motivation.

May you all be inspired as I was today. :)

F-86 down

The F-86 involved in Heritage day was involved in a landing accident today (local evening news report). The news is limited but the pilot was uninjured. Aircraft damaged.
