during a long hot start my buddy next to me started to yell fire.
i continued to crank it over to pull the fire into the carb. when i saw some white smoke i jumped out over the front of the wing with the halon extinguisher and sprayed the intake and lower rear cowl. it all lasted about 15 seconds. thank god for the help from my friends and the halon. i believe most of the smoke came from the inside of the cowl. the right side exhaust heat shield is gone. do you have a halon on board? i will be getting a new one soon. safe flying.
