I have several sets of dimple dies that are unmarked. Does anyone have the diameter measurement of the male pin for a #8 die?

I've got the #30, #40 and I believe #6 identified but I still have several other unmarked die sets.

Thanks,
Tom H.

I hope someone has a better answer than what I give, because I too have a dozen or so different dimple dies that are unmarked. I got them thrown in as part of another purchase, so I cant really complain. So far I have just performed a test dimple on scrap to see if it fits my needs.

When in doubt, which is pretty much all the time, I always measure with my caliper. I almost always measure the bolt and use the smallest drill near the size. The same should work for identifying the dies.

Edit,
I didn't answer the original question very well.
Most of us keep a chart in the shop for reference. Here's a sample one.

Looks like the most popular are as follows
#40 .098
#30 .1285
#6 screw .138
#8 screw .164
#10 screw .190
There are also tank dies usually #40 but with a deeper dimple. You may have a set in the batch.

The pilot diam on a #8 male die should be a close match for a #19 drill.
Usually 1/8 rivet dies and # 6 screw are the ones difficult to tell apart,
since the pilot on the 1/8 dies is #30 and the pilot on the #6 screw dies is #27 (only about .010 " difference)
