Hi all,

How does one change the pitch of a prop on a non-running engine? I am fitting my prop spinner and want to clear spinner for pitch changes.

By hand

You can twist the prop by hand. Takes quite a bit of force. I placed foam pads around the prop, clamp a couple boards on for leverage and twist.

Blade Twisting

Two 3 ft 2x4s with the appropriate blade shape notch cut out between them and clamped or bolted together slipped about halfway up the blade works just fine. If you have another one for your buddy (helper) on the other blade, even better. You?re twisting against a fairly strong spring but aren?t going to hurt the blades.

Air?

I think applying compressed air into the hub will work (from an air nozzle with a rubber cover on the front). Pete
