The grip I chose added some height to the stick, so I cut it down by about the same amount. I climbed in the cockpit, sat on some cushions and tried it out. That's the only way to tell for sure.

I thought of 20 different non-serious answers and managed to stay on topic. :)
 
check with panel installed

I would check the length after you install the panel to make sure you don't hit the bottom of the panel in full forward. I cut mine so that I could rest my elbow on the arm rest and hold the grip comfortably. Just as a reminder: as you shorten the stick, the force to move the elevator and ailerons increases. Jack

Mine seemed too long when I bought the plane, but I decided to fly with it for awhile before deciding how much to remove. It's easy to take length off of the sticks, harder to put it back on.

I suggest you wait until you have your panel, seats, AND GRIPS before considering trimming the stick. You'll want to make sure there are no interference issues.

Short sticks give more control response for a given deflection of the grip. Longer sticks give less, but will make the controls feel lighter as your fulcrum increases.
