Finishing up my RV10 panel. I need to cut the notch in the panel to accommodate the adjust knob for the altimeter.

I already have the 3 1/4 inch hole punched. I am willing to use a file, but can't figure out how to mark the cutout exactly on the panel.

I'd seen a drawing with angles and dimensions online but am unable to locate it now. I'd suggest fabricating a tracing stencil from thin acrylic available from Lowes/Home Depot first. Get it to fit the instrument, set it in place on the panel through the mounting holes, transfer the cutout to the panel, then drill/cut/file carefully to the marking.

Good luck!

Easy

Cut the round hole and drill the mounting holes.
Put the alt. in and carefully trace with a metal scribe around
The area for the adjust knob. I then cut away the majority with
A metal blade jig saw and finish up the edge with a
Carbide 1/2" rotary in a drill. Bought the rasp from The Yard
Store. Came out perfect.

Check them against your specific instrument though...
