I'm in my final preps to begin painting. While doing the wing I was wondering how to protect the flap hinges during painting. Obviously the outside will be painted. Should I just lightly oil the hinge pin and install it while painting and clean it between colors? BTW, I'm using the split pin system on the flaps. Very easy to remove and install.

Thanks in advance.

How about sacrificial hinge pins? Just an idea from a guy who doesn't know DIDDLY about painting.

hinge pin

You don't want the paint to stick to the pin so put some vaseline on it and install it while you paint. Make sure the hinge is clean and dry......The paint won't stick to the pin but will adhere to the hinge......works! :)
