Hi Folks - I think I need to start thinking about engines pretty soon. And one thought I am having is to get Superior engine kit (from J&J airparts) and get it assembled locally.

While I dont consider this to be a cheaper option, I think it'll help me learn more about perhaps the most mysterious part of the airplane (at least for me).

So my question is, do you know anyone near Seattle area who could help with such a task? Ideally, this would be someone who has done similar assemblies in the past with good experience.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome!

Thanks,
Ashish

Hi Ashish,
I did the same thing with the ECI kit engine. I found a local A&P familiar with Lycomings, and it took us about 2 days (total of about 12 hours) to assemble the engine. It turned out great.

Sorry this doens't answer your question, but I'm betting Seattle has a lot more potential for an A&P than Boise. Go ask around...or post an ad on your local FBO's bulletin board.

thanks.

Thanks LostPilot! Would you mind sharing where you got the kit from?

Still looking for recommendation in Seattle area.
